Project Overview
DX is a leading independent mail, parcels and logistics end to end network operator in the UK and Ireland established in 1975, delivering over 200 million items per annum. A comprehensive electrical design and installation was required to significantly upgrade the existing installation at Featherstone which included:
- Full fit out of offices, warehouse and distribution centre
- Full review of energy cost reduction in the main offices and warehouse areas
- Full data cabling infrastructure for CAT 5e UTP cabling and twin compartmental dado trunking throughout the offices
- Auto traffic light system with driver control on main roller stutters doors
- Full access control for all drivers in and out of warehouse loading bays
- Automatic fire alarm detection with keyholder response via dual comm
- BT line and GSM back up unit to First County Monitoring.
Project Delivery
GRW conducted a full design and general layout for all services:
- Full CAD design for detailed specification for lighting, general power and 3 phase power distribution to industrial machines
- All lighting had movement control and automatic dimming during daytime operation for maximum energy cost reduction
On completion the project included:
- General 3 phase power and full distribution throughout the site tested to BS7671
- Dado Trunking for data –voice –power infrastructure
- Cat 5e cabling infrastructure for all data and voice active communications
- Low energy lighting design with LED and T5 auto control with energy cost reduction review saving approx 70% of the lighting costs
- Movement sensor and light sensor technology
- Fire alarm system and emergency lighting
- Auto detection heat smoke and break glass
- Security system for monitoring and health & safety
- Auto Traffic control for all roller stutter doors with auto in/out facility for drivers
- Fresh air and air conditioning in main offices for comfort control
Final Results
The project was completed over a 14 week period and was finished on time, on budget with a full handover on completion of all documentation. Another happy customer!
